China has seen more than 2.04 million new electric bikes sold as part of its consumer goods program on Tuesday, generating 5.61 billion yuan (around 783 million US dollars) new sales of these bikes, according to the Ministry of Commerce on Wednesday.
Since the start of the year, the daily volume of sales of electric bikes as part of this program has been on average at 27,000 units, or 2.5 times the figure recorded the previous year, said the ministry.
During this period, more than 2 million consumers benefited from this program, with a total of grant requests amounting to more than 1.2 billion yuan, an average of 610 yuan per person, added the ministry.
The program has also benefited around 50,000 points of sale since the start of 2025, with an average increase in sales per store of 107,000 yuan. The majority of these points of sale are sole proprietorships and small and microentreprises.
Since the launch of the program in September 2024, a total of 3.42 million new electric bikes have been sold throughout the country, has revealed the ministry, which adds that by replacing the old high -risk electric bikes with new models comply with standards, risks and existing dangers would be effectively reduced.
Since the beginning of 2025, China has distributed one billion yuan (around 139.48 million dollars) from subsidies to more than 1.65 million consumers participating in its electric bicycle resumption program, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
