China remains at the center of the value channels of the global manufacturing industry, according to a report published Tuesday by the Boao forum for Asia.
The document, entitled “Annual report 2025 on economic prospects and progress in integration in Asia”, notes that, since 2017, the global trade in intermediate goods depends more on China than on North America. In 2023, global dependence on China for intermediate goods was 16%, compared to 15% for North America.
The commercial friction caused by the United States in 2018 did not improve its position in the value chains of the global manufacturing industry, adds the report.
