During the “Honging Forum: meeting civilizations between China and Mexico”, participants stressed the need to strengthen traditional friendship, improve cultural connectivity and raise bilateral relations to new heights.

He expressed the hope that the two countries will perpetuate this friendship, actively implement the initiative for global civilization proposed by China and encourage new progress in cultural exchanges and between China-Mexico peoples.
He also wanted the two parties to strengthen friendship and mutual trust through exchanges of civilizations, enrich the civilizations of the world through mutual learning and promote the common progress of human civilization thanks to the mixture of cultures.
The Chinese ambassador to Mexico, Chen Daojiang, said that Chinese and Mexican civilizations are splendid treasures of humanity, that they have shown their beauty in the long river of history and that they were rejuvenated thanks to exchanges and mutual learning.
The “benevolence and harmony” advocated by the Chinese nation echoes wisdom and the arts caused by Mayan and Aztec civilizations through time and space, added Mr. Chen.
Diego Pieto, director of the unity of living cultures, intangible heritage and interculturality within the secretariat for the culture of Mexico, said that Mexico and China were both from ancient civilizations and that they enjoyed a long and splendid cultural tradition.
The two countries have always defended the concept of peace, advocated the right resolution of disputes through dialogue and consultation, and actively intensified international friendship and cooperation, said the official.
Currently, the Mexican government has undertaken to advance social transformation. In this process, Mexico and China can learn from their respective experiences and share their wisdom, thus infusing a new vitality to the deepening of their friendship and their cooperation, said Mr. Prieto.

In recent years, cooperation between Mexico and China has gone far beyond the economy, trade, investment and the construction of infrastructure, and has gradually extended to areas such as cultural exchanges, scientific and technological innovation, cooperation in education, university exchanges and sports, etc., said the expert.
We expect more people from all walks of life in Mexico and China to engage in efforts to deepen bilateral links and contribute to the development of relations in the years to come, said Dussel.
A report by the reflection group entitled “Defending cultural subjectivity in the dynamic interaction of global cultures: the spiritual cornerstone of the modernization path of China” was published during the forum.
The report reviews the long historical context and the magnificent evolution of Chinese cultural subjectivity, and analyzes the key role of cultural subjectivity in the development of human civilization.
It also highlights the successful practices of Chinese modernization in maintaining and activating the subjectivity of Chinese culture, offering new perspectives to help the global public better understand the essence of Chinese cultural identity.
