Inauguration ceremony of the China Today-Jingdezhen Exhibition
The city of Jingdezhen (Jiangxi) is considered the ceramic capital of China. To raise awareness of this element of intangible cultural heritage, the China Today-Jingdezhen Fair was inaugurated on October 19 in the presence of around a hundred Chinese and foreign guests from different sectors of society.
Led by the China International Communication Group (CICG) and the Communication Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Jiangxi Provincial Committee, the event is sponsored by the Communication Center for Europe and China. Africa (Europe-Africa Center) of the CICG and the Communication Department of the CPC Jingdezhen City Committee, and organized by Beijing Jinzhong Culture Communication, the Jingdezhen Ceramics Copyright Trade Center and the holding company of Zhejiang Fengwo Group.

According to Gao Anming, editor-in-chief of CICG, the fair provides an important platform for Sino-foreign cultural exchanges in Jiangxi, especially Jingdezhen. The establishment of the fair is an important initiative of the CICG to support Jingdezhen in promoting international communication and disseminating its ceramic culture, while allowing the whole world to better know the city.
Zhang Long, director of the communications department of the CPC Jingdezhen City Committee, stressed that the city will take this opportunity to deepen cultural exchanges and enrich forms of international communication.
Maimona Ahmed Mohammed Khalid, Minister of the Sudanese Embassy in China, hoped that the people of Sudan could discover Jingdezhen porcelain through this fair, which will promote cultural exchanges between China and Sudan, but to establish a new bridge of mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.
In her speech, Zhao Lijun, director of the Europe-Africa Center, noted that this fair leverages the multilingual, multimedia and multiplatform international communication resources of the CICG. She was convinced that the fair will facilitate exchanges between Jingdezhen and the whole world and restore vitality to the porcelain capital.
According to Yu Zhihua, director of the Jingdezhen Ceramics Copyright Trade Center, in collaboration with the Europe-Africa Center, said they want to tell more stories of China through this fair.
Other guests, including artists, entrepreneurs and young foreigners, agreed that this fair would be conducive to wider dissemination of Jingdezhen ceramic art, attracting more international friends to introduce them to this charming city.
The unveiling of the House of Yangjingpiao
Aunoviet Azouwani, First Counselor of the Gabonese Embassy in China, and Sheng Jingjing, Director General of Jingdezhen Municipal Culture and Tourism Bureau, unveiled the Yangjingpiao House with other guests at the opening ceremony . The term “yangjingpiao” refers to foreigners who are interested in Jingdezhen ceramic culture, and who live and study there.
Furthermore, an activity aimed at collecting creative works was launched. It invites designers, manufacturers, investors and copyright protection institutions from China and abroad to present new creations based on the traditional Chinese ceramic bowl, hoping to pool their wisdom to innovatively develop the art of ceramics.
Visitors to the exhibition
After the ceremony, guests visited the “Mutual Inspiration and Integration” exhibition to experience the unique charm of Chinese ceramics. The exhibition is organized by the Europe-Africa Center and the Jingdezhen Ceramics Copyright Trade Center.
On the afternoon of October 19, a conference held as part of this show brought together more than 50 representatives from artistic, academic, media and commercial circles. They had in-depth discussions on the development of international communication, exchanges between generation Z and “yangjingpiao”, and the international diffusion of Jingdezhen ceramic culture.
