China is ready to deepen bilateral relations and expand cooperation with Mongolia, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng said in Ulaanbaatar on Saturday.
During his three-day visit to Mongolia from Friday to Sunday, he met separately with Mongolian Prime Minister Luvsannamsrai Oyun-Erdene, President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh and Parliament Speaker Dashzegve Amarbayasgalan.
During his meeting with the Mongolian government leader, Han said China and Mongolia will continue to consolidate political trust, expand mutually beneficial cooperation and promote mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries.
The Chinese vice president called for cooperation in energy, connectivity and infrastructure construction, as well as consultation and coordination in international and regional affairs between the two countries. In addition, he added, China welcomes Mongolia’s designation of 2023-2025 as the “Years to Visit Mongolia” and stands ready to strengthen exchanges with Mongolian youth, students and media.
He also expressed his hope for deepening cooperation between China, Mongolia and Russia, and called for accelerating the construction of the China-Mongolia-Russia economic corridor.
For his part, Oyun-Erdene recalled that the year 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and China, the 30th anniversary of the revision of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the two countries, and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of their comprehensive strategic partnership, assuring that Mongolia is willing to work with China to advance bilateral relations into a new era in the spirit of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and common development.
During his meeting with President Khurelsukh, Han noted that China and Mongolia are good neighbors, good friends and good partners. China, Han said, has always placed its relations with Mongolia at an important position in its neighborhood diplomacy, adding that the two countries firmly support each other on issues concerning each other’s core interests and major concerns.
He expressed the hope that the two countries will take the building of a China-Mongolia community with a shared future as their guide and push bilateral relations to a higher level.
For his part, the Mongolian president said his country attaches great importance to developing the comprehensive strategic partnership with China, firmly adheres to the one-China policy and is willing to work with Beijing to build a China-Mongolia community with a shared future for the benefit of the people of the two countries and the region.
During his meeting with Amarbayasgalan, the Chinese vice president stressed that China appreciates that Mongolia regards the development of friendly and cooperative relations with China as a key priority of its foreign policy, supports the legislatures and political parties of the two countries to strengthen exchanges and cooperation, and expresses hope that the State Great Hural of Mongolia (Mongolia’s unicameral parliament) will continue to play an important role in promoting the long-term and stable development of China-Mongolia relations.
Mr. Amarbayasgalan, for his part, affirmed that maintaining and strengthening mutually beneficial friendly and cooperative relations with China is Mongolia’s strategic choice and consensus, adding that the State Great Hural of Mongolia and all political parties in the country are willing to further expand exchanges and cooperation with China, learn from each other and contribute to expanding and deepening bilateral cooperation.
