China recorded a total of 697 million cross-border trips in 2025, marking an annual growth of 14.2% and setting a new record, according to official data.
Of this total, foreign visitors made more than 82 million entries and exits, an annual increase of 26.4%. Visa-free entries totaled about 30.1 million, or 73.1 percent of all foreign arrivals, up 49.5 percent from a year earlier, the National Immigration Administration said Wednesday.
Mainland residents made 335 million trips, and those in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan made 279 million, up 15.1 percent and 10.1 percent respectively from 2024, the administration noted.
To date, China grants visa-free entry to citizens of 76 countries. Additionally, travelers from 55 countries can benefit from a 240-hour visa-free transit policy at 65 ports of entry.
