China will actively expand domestic demand and attach greater importance to promoting consumption in the next stage, Yuan Da, a senior official with the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), said at a press conference on Thursday.
According to him, the NDRC will make efforts to boost consumption of major goods such as automobiles and household appliances, improve the quality of consumer services and expand their coverage in the fields of education, elderly care, child care and household services.
Support will be given to the high-quality development of cultural and sports tourism, Yuan said, adding that measures to facilitate people-to-people exchanges will be continuously improved to make travel in China more convenient and comfortable for foreign travelers.
