The leaders of more than 20 countries and the heads of ten international organizations will participate in the Shanghai cooperation organization (OCS) in Tianjin, northern China, and related events, Wang Yi, Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs, said on Tuesday.
The OCS summit will be held from August 31 to September 1, Wang said in Tianjin, during a joint press conference with the secretary general of the OCS, Nurlan Yermekbayev.
On the same day, Mr. Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, chaired Tianjin the meeting of the Council of Foreign Affairs of the OCS member states.
Minister Belarusian Foreign Affairs, Maksim Ryzhenkov, Indian Foreign Minister, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Iranian Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu, the Kirghizstan Foreign Affairs, Jeenbek Kouloubaïev, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Muhriddin, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, Nurlan Yermekbayev and the director of the Executive Committee of the regional anti-terrorist structure of the OCS, Ularbek Sharsheev, were present at this meeting.
Mr. Wang called on the member states of the OCS to endeavor to lead to a broader consensus on the strengthening of the organization in a way demonstrating a sense of responsibility vis-à-vis history and the future. He presented five suggestions on the development of the organization.
Member States must remain faithful to their initial commitment and advance Shanghai’s mind, consolidate the foundations of security, seek mutual benefits and win-win results to stimulate the new engine of development, pursue friendship and good neighborhood relationships, and preserve equity and justice, he said.
Wang thanked the member states for their support for the role of China for the rotating presidency, adding that the OCS was ready to enter a new high -quality development phase thanks to the joint efforts of the member states.
The stakeholders welcomed the remarkable work and the positive results of China during its rotating presidency, and expressed their will to coordinate and collaborate with China to ensure the success of the Tianjin summit.
All parties have fully recognized the important role of the OCS in strengthening the mutual strategic confidence between the member states, the promotion of development and prosperity of the region, the maintenance of common security and the deepening of the links between peoples.
Faced with agitated international situations, all parties have agreed that it was important to promote Shanghai’s spirit more, to strengthen solidarity and coordination, to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and to fight against the “three forces of evil” that are terrorism, extremism and separatism.
They agreed to strengthen cooperation in various fields, to promote dialogue between the various civilizations, to defend together the United Nations authority, to oppose unilateralism and to settle peacefully the problems of hot spots by the BIAS of dialogue and negotiations, in order to make new contributions to peace and development in the world.
