China’s manufacturing activity continued to show signs of improvement in May, while production has accelerated and market expectations have been strengthened, according to official data published on Saturday.
The Chinese Manufacturing Sector Purchase Directors (IDA) was established at 49.5 in May, up 0.5 points compared to April, according to the State Bureau of Statistics (BEs).
A figure greater than 50 reflects an expansion, while a figure less than 50 indicates a contraction.
Zhao Qinghe, BES statistician, said this improvement reflected the acceleration of production and better expectations from companies.
The production sub-index reached 50.7, an increase of 0.9 points over a month, which indicates an acceleration of manufacturing production. The new command index also increased by 0.6 points to 49.8.
In particular, the IDA of large companies has returned to expansion, amounting to 50.7, up 1.5 points compared to April, which reveals an improvement in conditions for large companies.
The high -tech manufacturing industry continued its expansion for the fourth consecutive month, reaching 50.9. The sub-indexes for the sectors of the manufacture of equipment and consumer goods increased to reach 51.2 and 50.2 respectively.
Market expectations have also improved during the period. The index of the expectations of production activities and commercial activities increased to 52.5, an increase of 0.4 points compared to the previous month, which indicates that manufacturing companies maintain constant confidence in short -term growth prospects, noted Mr. Zhao.
The continuous resumption of IDA in the manufacturing sector suggests that the effects of the intensification of macroeconomic political measures are beginning to be felt, with the improvement of the expectations of companies and signs of resumption of production activity, according to analysts.
