China’s first Type 076 amphibious assault ship, Sichuan, returned to the Shanghai Shipyard around 5 p.m. Sunday after completing its first sea trial.
The three-day mission tested the ship’s propulsion and electrical systems independently developed by the country, as well as other equipment, and yielded the expected results.
Sichuan will undergo follow-up tests according to established plans.
As a new generation amphibious assault ship of the People’s Liberation Army Navy, the ship integrates innovative electromagnetic catapult and landing technologies, enabling it to carry fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters and amphibious equipment.
