In a gushing of colorful creativity and overflowing imagination, Legoland Shanghai Resort opened its doors on Saturday at the first wave of enthusiastic visitors, announcing the arrival of the first Legoland complex in China.
The opening ceremony, which took place around 10:00 am on the very lively Lego Plaza, had the emblematic giant figure of Lego, “Dada”, arousing the acclaiming of a varied and international guests.
Covering an area of 318,000 square meters, Legoland Shanghai Resort is the 11th Legoland Resort in the world and the largest Legoland park at the time of its opening. It is a collaboration project between Shanghai Guoyi Investment Management CO, LTD, Kirkbi, Merlin Entertainments and CMC Inc.
Designed especially for children aged 2 to 12 and their families, the complex has eight thematic areas, including “Legoland Imagination Zone” and “Lego Monkey King”, and offers more than 75 rides, shows and interactive attractions.
According to sector specialists and experts, the increased presence of international renowned thematic parks on the Chinese market reflects the quest for China with high quality development and its unshakable commitment to expand its opening to the world. This approach has strengthened confidence in the global theme parks industry, highlighting the vast potential for sustainable growth in China.
“Our in -depth knowledge of Chinese consumers and our experience of more than ten years of exploitation in China allowed us to design Legoland Shanghai as the destination par excellence in the themed park and hotel,” said Fiona Eastwood, Managing Director of Merlin Entertainments. “This is a mixture of the experienced experience of Legoland … with rich Chinese cultural elements, thus creating a destination both recognizable and locally resonant, allowing children to reconnect with their heritage through imaginative games”.
According to Ms. Eastwood, Legoland Shanghai Resort should not only attract Chinese visitors, but also becoming a global tourist destination thanks to the international attractiveness of Shanghai.
To mark the opening of the complex, a large opening week has been launched, which will take place until July 13. The complex will turn into a festive wonderland with thematic decorations, immersive experiences and exclusive offers.
