The deputies at the 14th National People’s Assembly (APN) met on Tuesday in Beijing during a preparatory meeting to elect the presidium and fix the agenda of the third session of the 14th APN, which will open on Wednesday.
Zhao Leji, chairman of the APN’s permanent committee, chaired the preparatory meeting.
All preparatory work in the annual session has been completed, said Zhao.
A presidium of 176 members was elected, with Li Hongzhong as secretary general of the APN session.
The preparatory meeting also adopted the agenda for the next session:
– deliberate the government’s activity report;
– Examine the report on the application of the 2024 plan for national economic and social development and on the plan 2025 plan, and the plan 2025 plan for national economic and social development;
– Examine the report on the execution of the central budget and local budgets for 2024 as well as on the project of central budget and local budgets for 2025, and the project of central budget and local budgets for 2025;
– deliberate the bill proposed by the Standing Committee of the APN on the examination of the amendment project to the law on deputies at the National People’s Assembly and to local popular assemblies at different levels;
– deliberate the activity report of the APN’s permanent committee;
– deliberate the activity report of the Supreme Popular Court;
– deliberate the activity report of the supreme popular prosecution.
The presidium of the session met shortly after the end of the preparatory meeting. Participants in the presidium meeting decided on the agenda of the APN session, among other files. The APN session will take place from March 5 to 11 of this year.
Before the preparatory meeting, the council of the president and the vice-presidents of the APN’s permanent committee met to prepare the meeting.
The presidium and council meetings of the president and vice-presidents were chaired by Mr. Zhao.
