A report from a think tank on the synergy of civilizations was released Wednesday in Guangzhou, capital of south China’s Guangdong Province.
Titled “Synergy of Civilizations: A Chinese Perspective,” the report was released by the Xinhua Institute, a high-level think tank under the Xinhua News Agency.
In his speech, Fu Hua, president of Xinhua and chairman of the institute’s academic committee, said that in recent years, Xinhua News Agency has produced a series of news reports and think tank reports on strengthening the cultural power of China.
Xinhua will intensify research in this field, draw wisdom and vigor from China’s beautiful traditional culture, and strengthen the cultural foundation of China’s modernization, he noted.
Fu also emphasized the need to grasp the mainstream trend of exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations. He encouraged adopting a global perspective to observe the development of civilizations and pledged to contribute even more to the configuration of a new form of human development.
Released at Sun Yat-sen University, the report proposes the concept of civilizational integration, which embodies the values centered on humanity, integrity and innovation, mutual learning through exchanges, the future shared and harmonious coexistence. It calls for an inclusive coexistence of different civilizations that transcends historical, cultural, geographical and institutional differences.
Also on Wednesday, Xinhua and the university signed a framework agreement on multidisciplinary strategic cooperation. They plan to jointly build a cultural research institute.
The two sides will intensify cooperation in areas such as policy popularization, culture, education and training of high-level and professional talents, according to their agreement.
