The city of Shenzhen, in southern China, saw its foreign trade reaching 2,580 billion yuan (around 361.7 billion dollars) during the first seven months of 2025, ranking at the head of the cities of the continental part of China, the customs of Shenzhen announced on Tuesday.
In July, the total volume of imports and exports of Shenzhen reached 415.94 billion yuan, increasing by 6.2% over one year. Exports totaled 255.62 billion yuan, marking a new record for monthly exports this year with growth of 4.7%, while imports increased by 8.8% to 160.32 billion yuan.
Shenzhen’s growth in exports has been stimulated by the high competitiveness of traditional electronic industries and strategic emerging industries. From January to July, exports of electromechanical products dominated, reaching 1,170 billion yuan and representing 74.7% of the total.
The strategic emerging industries have recorded particularly strong growth, exports of lithium batteries and purely electric private cars increasing respectively by 37.9%and 21.7%, and exports of integrated circuits leaping by 40.9%.
Under the effect of the growing demand for electronic components, imports of electromechanical products from Shenzhen increased by 14.7% during this period, representing 82.1% of the total.
Private companies have stimulated Shenzhen’s commercial activities, contributing to 1,800 billion yuan, or 69.8% of total value.
