The Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang is committed to the opening and cooperation on Sunday, on Sunday, despite the growing instability and uncertainty on a global scale.

Mr. Li made these remarks during his speech at the opening ceremony of the 2025 edition of the China Development Forum in Beijing.

China will continue to welcome businesses from around the world with open arms, expand market access, actively respond to business concerns and promote a deeper integration of companies with foreign capital in the Chinese market, he said.

The increase in global economic fragmentation, combined with growing instability and uncertainty in today’s world, underlines the urgent need for countries to open their markets and for companies to share their resources, in order to meet the challenges and to continue common prosperity, said the Prime Minister.

He also indicated that China would defend free trade and contribute to the proper functioning of industrial and world supply chains.

China has set its annual growth objective at around 5% for 2025. Li said that this decision reflected both in -depth understanding of the country’s fundamental economic conditions and strong confidence in its governance capacities as well as in its future development potential, and it is committed to strengthening political support while stimulating market forces in order to achieve this objective.

The country will implement more proactive and effective macroeconomic policies, will further strengthen anticyclic adjustments and introduce new incremental policies if necessary in order to provide solid support for continuous improvement and the proper functioning of the economy, he added.

China will continue to move forward in the construction of a unified national market and to eliminate bottlenecks from economic traffic to create a better development environment for various economic entities, he said.

Mr. Li pointed out that around the Chinese New Year of this year, the Chinese economy has experienced phenomenal boom, with new growth engines growing in various sectors, which will breathe sustained and vigorous momentum.

The 2025 edition of the China Development Forum takes place on March 23 and 24. This year’s theme of the forum is “freeing development dynamics for stable growth in the global economy”.

About 720 people, including entrepreneurs, government officials, experts and representatives of international organizations in China and abroad, attended the forum opening ceremony, organized by the Research Center on the Development of the Council for State Affairs.
