The China International Import Expo (CIIE) is a unique exhibition in the world, said Vincent Boinay, president of L’Oréal North Asia and CEO of L’Oréal China, in an interview with Xinhua while attending the 8th CIIE in Shanghai.
In Mr. Boinay’s view, the CIIE, with its status as a major event organized by the Chinese government as a special attraction, constitutes an important platform that allows L’Oréal to present what is new and consolidate the strengths of all its operations in China. Thanks to this exhibition, L’Oréal can “show what we do best for China, with China and to build tomorrow”, he said.
Echoing Chinese Premier Li Qiang’s inaugural speech at the opening ceremony of the 8th CIIE, Boinay agreed with describing today’s global landscape as an interconnected world. As the world’s leading cosmetics company, L’Oréal aspires to embody this interconnection and is proud to “show off everything we do in China, for China and for the Chinese consumer”, he said.
Noting that the Chinese market was the second largest market in the world, Vincent Boinay said it was also a market brimming with innovation and increasingly sophisticated. “That’s why we say that to succeed in China is probably to succeed in the world tomorrow,” he said.
Speaking of Chinese innovation, he highlighted L’Oréal China’s Suzhou Smart Fulfillment Center, which will be inaugurated in 2024. This site serves as a nerve center, allowing L’Oréal to provide services to its customers and consumers within 24 hours. Chinese culture and emerging brands significantly fuel L’Oréal’s innovative inspiration, added the CEO of the group’s Chinese subsidiary.
Mr Boinay said China was undoubtedly a key market for L’Oréal: “It’s a market where if you’re number one, you need to raise your game and continue to constantly innovate.”
The 8th CIIE will be held from November 5 to 11 in Shanghai. L’Oréal, the world’s largest cosmetics group, is participating for the eighth consecutive year under the theme “Essentiality of Beauty”, presenting three new brands, as well as several cutting-edge technologies in the field.
