On April 25, 2025, People’s Bank of China President Pan Gongsheng met with World Bank President Peng Anjie during the International Monetary Fund/World Bank spring meeting. The two sides exchanged views on issues such as cooperation between the People’s Bank of China and the World Bank.
Pan Gongsheng pointed out that the current instability and uncertainty of the world economy is increasing, and unilateralism and protectionism seriously damage the international economic and trade order and have a huge negative impact on the global economy. Faced with the impact of the external environment, the Chinese government has implemented moderately loose monetary policies and more active fiscal policies, and the economy continues to rebound and improve.
Pan Gongsheng emphasized that the World Bank, as an important multilateral cooperation platform, plays an important role in promoting global cooperation and development. The People’s Bank of China is willing to further deepen pragmatic financial cooperation with the World Bank, continue to practice true multilateralism, and jointly promote global economic development.
