The Hainan free trade port in China will officially launch on December 18, 2025 an independent customs operation across the island, as approved by the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, an official of the country’s highest planning body announced on Wednesday.
The launch planned on this symbolic date, which marks the anniversary of the third plenary session of the 11th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in 1978 and thus the start of the reform and the opening, underlines the unwavering commitment of China in favor of a high -level opening, said Wang Changlin, deputy director of the National Commission for Development and Reformation, during a press conference.
Political preparations for the independent functioning of customs on the scale of the island are already in place, announced Feng Fei, secretary of the PCC committee for the province of Hainan, at the press conference.
