This morning, the Civil Aviation Administration held a press conference. The relevant person in charge said that the number of civil aviation passengers during the Spring Festival in 2025 is expected to exceed 90 million, which is expected to hit a record high.
During this year’s Spring Festival travel period, there are approximately 18,500 daily flights scheduled across the country, a year-on-year increase of 8.4%. Among the major international hub airports, the number of planned flights in Beijing has increased by more than 5%, and the number of scheduled flights in Shanghai and Chengdu has also increased to a certain extent. The number of planned flights at the airports of popular cultural and tourism destinations such as Sanya, Haikou, Harbin, and Urumqi for “cold escape travel” and “ice and snow travel” is expected to increase significantly.
In addition, this year’s Spring Festival holiday is eight days long, and passengers are more willing to travel during off-peak hours. The peak travel days are expected to occur from January 25 to 27 before the Spring Festival (that is, from the 26th to the 28th of the twelfth lunar month), and in February after the Spring Festival. From the 4th to the 7th (that is, from the seventh to the tenth day of the first lunar month)
From the perspective of passenger flow, during the Spring Festival this year, the traditional popular routes between the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao, and Chengdu-Chongqing urban agglomerations have concentrated passenger flow, and they are still the main channels for civil aviation to ensure Spring Festival transportation. At the same time, with the changes in travel habits, traveling during the Spring Festival holiday has become the choice of more and more people. Judging from booking data, during the Spring Festival travel period, “ice and snow travel” destinations such as Harbin, Changchun, and Urumqi in the north and “cold escape” destinations such as Haikou and Sanya in the south will see a significant increase in passenger volume.
As China’s visa-free “circle of friends” further expands, payment facilitation and other measures to facilitate foreigners coming to China become more popular, and the demand for “welcoming in” and “going out” is superimposed, the international market is expected to reach its peak during the Spring Festival in 2025. Popular Travel destinations are concentrated in neighboring countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Japan.
