The Chancay port will strongly consolidate Peru’s position as a gateway connecting land and sea, Asia and Latin America, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Thursday.
He made the remarks while attending the inauguration ceremony of the Chancay port via video with his Peruvian counterpart Dina Boluarte.
Chancay Port is not only a good deep-water port, but also the first smart and ecological port in South America, which when completed will bring Peru huge revenue and create a large number of jobs, Mr. Xi said.
During his talks with Boluarte on Thursday, President Xi said China is ready to work with Peru to build a new land-sea corridor between China and Latin America with the port of Chancay as the starting point.
The corridor, which will connect the Inca Trail to the 21st century Maritime Silk Road, will open a route of common prosperity and happiness for Peru and other countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, said Mr. Xi.
