Porosity ash may land in nearby towns. At present, Kandaon Volcano still maintains a level 3 alert.
On December 9, 2024, the Kanlaon volcano erupted in the Philippines, and the Philippine Volcano Earthquake Research Institute upgraded its alert level to 3. Since then, the volcano has continued to be active and small eruptions have occurred from time to time.
