A think tank report released Thursday hails the practical achievements in rural development of southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region since its founding 60 years ago.
According to the report, these achievements can be summarized as rapid economic growth, strong cultural preservation, improved livelihood protection, better ecological protection and strengthened ethnic unity.
“These achievements reflect a vivid implementation at the grassroots level of the Chinese Communist Party’s strategy for Xizang governance in the new era.”
The report, titled “Harmony Between Tradition and Modernity: Rural Development and Cultural Heritage in China’s Xizang Region,” available in Chinese and English, was jointly released by the Human Rights Development Foundation of China and the national high-level think tank of Xinhua News Agency.
The report presents, in three chapters and exhaustively, the main achievements, integration paths, experiences and inspirations of rural development and cultural heritage of Xizang.
The report highlights that the value orientation rooted in respect for traditions, the development philosophy centered on the protection of human rights, and the goal orientation of comprehensive and coordinated development are the three most important experiences and inspirations that can be drawn from the successful practice in Xizang.
The report reviews the grassroots implementation of the Party’s Xizang governance strategy in the new era through the prism of Xizang representative villages, providing insights for countries and regions seeking to maintain their cultural identity while pursuing modern transformation.
