The Chinese president, Xi Jinping urged Wednesday, the Ouïgoure autonomous region of Xinjiang to work for the construction of a modern socialist Xinjiang, characterized by unity, harmony, prosperity, cultural ease and a healthy ecological environment, a region where the population lives and works in all serenity.
Mr. XI, also secretary general of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCC), and president of the Central Military Commission, made these remarks after listening to the activity reports of the PCC Committee for the Xinjiang and the Xinjiang regional government.
He underlined the need to fully and fully implement the party’s guidelines for Xinjiang governance in the new era.
Mr. XI noted that since the foundation of the Uighur Autonomous Region of Xinjiang 70 years ago, radical changes took place in the region, and that Xinjiang joined the rest of the country to undertake the new march towards the construction of a modern socialist country on all levels.
According to official data, Xinjiang GDP has increased at an average annual rate of 7.04% since 2012. In 2024, it increased by 6.1%, exceeding for the first time the 2,000 billion yuan (around 281.4 billion dollars).
Based on its industrial resources and capacities, the Xinjiang must actively explore a high-quality development route adapted to its own characteristics and develop its new quality productive forces according to local conditions, he stressed.
It also urged Xinjiang to promote the cultural tourism industry, to strengthen the preservation and restoration of ecosystems, to accelerate the construction of the central area of the economic belt of the silk road, and to give priority to the guarantee and to improve the standard of living of the population.
Xi insisted on the need to deploy all -out efforts to maintain social stability in the Xinjiang, and to strengthen awareness and the preparation of the population in the fight against terrorism and to maintain stability.
It is imperative to strengthen the feeling of belonging to the Chinese national community in the Xinjiang and to promote the construction of the community, said Mr. XI, noting that the region had to ensure that religions in China comply with Chinese realities, and help the officials and populations of all ethnic groups to develop a correct vision of the country, history, culture and religion.
The strengthening of party leadership and party building constitutes the fundamental guarantee to advance the modernization of the Xinjiang, he added.
According to Mr. XI, the Xinjiang (CPCX) production and construction body constitutes a major strategic force to achieve the global objective of the CCC central committee for the work linked to the Xinjiang. He called to deepen the CPCX reform.

Mr. XI arrived in Urumqi on Tuesday, capital of Xinjiang, by driving a central delegation, to participate in the activities marking the 70th anniversary of the Autonomous Region Foundation.
Wednesday morning, Mr. XI visited a thematic exhibition for the birthday in a cultural center in Urumqi. He will have to participate Thursday in a large gathering of celebrations in the city.
