The Chinese president, Xi Jinping, called on Friday to the successful completion of the 14th five-year plan (2021-2025) for military development.
Mr. XI, also secretary general of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and president of the Central Military Commission, made these remarks when he participated in a plenary meeting of the Delegation of the People’s Army of Liberation and the Force of the People’s Army Police, during the third session of the 14th National People’s Assembly, the national legislative body of China.
Mr. XI called for efforts to strengthen confidence, face challenges and implement the requirements relating to high quality development, in order to achieve the objectives and tasks set within the time limits.
For more than four years since the implementation of the plan, a series of important achievements have been accomplished, but many challenges and questions must also be discussed, according to Mr. XI.
Mr. XI called to continue a high -quality military development route, profitability, cost reduction and sustainability in order to ensure that his results resist the test of time and real fighting.
Mr. XI has focused on the importance of using modern concepts and methods of management, and continuously improving strategic management systems and mechanisms in order to implement the plan in a more systematic, more holistic and more coordinated way.
By emphasizing the intensification of joint civilian and military efforts, Xi insisted on efforts to use the forces and resources of the civil sectors in order to improve the quality and efficiency of military development.
Calling for accelerated development of new quality combat capacities, Mr. XI insisted on efforts to improve a rapid reaction and processing mechanism for advanced technologies.
He also asked for the implementation of a complete and effective control system in order to invest in thorough corruption and to fight corruption.
