Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed the importance of joining high-quality development and stimulating growth by deepening the reform and opening on all levels, during his inspection in the Chinese Guizhou province (southwest) which took place on Monday and Tuesday.
Mr. XI, also secretary general of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and president of the Central Military Commission, called on the province to strengthen confidence, to work hard and to advance safe step to advance Chinese modernization.
Monday afternoon, Mr. Xi visited a village in the ethnic group Dong, in the autonomous prefecture Miao and Dong de Qiandongnan. He inspected the surroundings and local stores, stopping from time to time to chat with store owners, tourists and villagers.
In an exhibition center, he informed himself of the preservation and inheritance of Dong culture. He also observed the Batik manufacturing process in a specialized industrial base.
Xi stressed that the cultures of the minority ethnic groups were an integral part of Chinese culture and had to be preserved, transformed and developed in a creative manner.
The Chinese president also sat with villagers for friendly discussions. When he left, he expressed the hope of seeing them continue to revitalize the campaign as Chinese modernization progresses.
XI also visited the provincial capital on Tuesday, Guiyang, where he listened to the presentation made by the provincial authorities concerning their work.
Mr. XI underlined the need to strengthen innovation development by relying on the real economy. He called to actively develop emerging strategic industries, and to strengthen industries such as digital economy and new energies.
He also asked the province to protect the environment well and transform its ecological assets in development benefits.
Mr. XI required efforts to eliminate local protectionism, market segmentation and abusive and not reasonable competition in order to create a stable, fair, transparent and predictable environment for businesses.
Qualifying the opening of “important element” of the commercial environment, Mr. Xi urged Guizhou to take an active part in the country’s overall opening structure.
Mr. XI insisted on the need to develop modern and effective mountain agriculture that adapts to the local conditions of Guizhou, while cultivating advanced industries with regional characteristics and sustainable competitiveness on the market.
Emphasizing the rich historical heritage of Guizhou, its dynamic revolutionary culture and its various ethnic traditions, he stressed the importance of exploiting these assets in order to stimulate economic and social development.
The realization of high-quality development requires unwavering membership in party leadership, he added.
XI noted the launch of an education campaign on a party level to implement the “decision in eight points” of the central management of the party on the improvement of conduct, saying that it was a key task for the construction of the party this year.
He asked party organizations at all levels to encourage members and party officials to adopt exemplary driving, and to deploy concentrated and concerted efforts to stimulate development.
CAI QI, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the PCC and director of the General Directorate of the Central Committee of the PCC, accompanied Mr. XI during his inspection tour.
