Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday met with representatives of retired officials and groups who received awards for their outstanding work.
Congratulating the winners, Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, urged the retirees to carry on glorious traditions and uphold political integrity.
He also urged them to contribute more to building China into a strong country and realizing national rejuvenation through Chinese modernization.
Cai Qi, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, and Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, attended at the meeting held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Li Ganjie, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, also attended the meeting.
On Monday, 150 groups and 450 individuals were recognized during a ceremony in honor of retiree leaders and model groups. Mr. Li delivered a speech at the ceremony.
