Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Tuesday that China and Russia were to strengthen their mutual support in multilateral executives, safeguard their interests in terms of development and security, unite the countries of the global South and advance international order to a fairer and fair management.
Mr. XI made these remarks during his meeting with the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov in Beijing, calling on both parties to support each other in the direction of the development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (OCS), to inject new impetus to the OCS and make the strategic platform more substantial and stronger.
Xi asked Mr. Lavrov to transmit his cordial greetings to the Russian President Vladimir Putin. Calling the two parties to implement important consensus affected with his Russian counterpart, he said that China and Russia were to advance their global coordination strategic partnership.
The OCS, created jointly by China, Russia and other countries as a global mechanism for regional cooperation, plays an essential role in the safeguarding of peace, stability and development throughout Eurasia, underlined Mr. XI.
Mr. Lavrov transmitted the sincere greetings of President Putin to President XI, adding that, under the strategic direction of the two heads of state, the global strategic partnership for China-Russia coordination has developed deeply.
Russia attaches great importance to its relations with China, and wishes to maintain high-level exchanges with it in this special year, which marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the anti-fascist world war, according to the Russian minister.
He added that Russia would work with China to strengthen their mutually beneficial cooperation in various sectors, to maintain communication and coordination on international and regional affairs, and to promote peace and stability at regional and global levels.
Russia supports the work of China, which currently occupies the rotating presidency of the OCS, in order to jointly ensure the success of the organization’s summit in Tianjin, he said.
