Chinese President Xi Jinping met Turkish President on Sunday, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is in the Chinese port city of Tianjin (North) to attend the 2025 summit of the Shanghai cooperation organization.

China and Turkey are both major emerging countries led by a spirit of independence, said Mr. XI, adding that the high -level development of bilateral relations served the fundamental interests of the two countries as well as the common interests of the Global South countries.

Xi called on the two countries to grasp the global trend in favor of peace, development and win-win cooperation, and to work together to build a fairer and more equitable global governance system.

Note that next year will mark the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Turkey, Mr. Xi said that the two parties were to take this opportunity to strengthen their bilateral links. They must consolidate their mutual political confidence, support each other on questions relating to their main respective fundamental concerns and interests and strengthen their cooperation in the field of the fight against terrorism and security, he noted.

The two countries must deepen their pragmatic cooperation and seek new cooperation opportunities in the fields of new energy, 5G technology and biomedicine, continued Mr. XI. He also called on both parties to strengthen their coordination in multilateral frameworks in order to preserve international equity and justice.

Erdogan said Turkey was ready to maintain high -level narrow exchanges with China, to advance high -quality cooperation in the context of the “belt and road” initiative and to strengthen cooperation in the fields such as new infrastructure and energies in order to stimulate the robust growth in bilateral relations.

The Turkish part is willing to strengthen cooperation with China as part of the OCS in order to contribute to the development and prosperity of the region and the world, said Erdogan, welcoming China’s just position on the Middle East issue.

High Chinese officials, including Cai Qi, Wang Yi and Chen Min’er, attended the meeting.
