Chinese President Xi Jinping met the Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Sunday in Tianjin, a port city in northern China.
Pham Minh Chinh is in China to attend the 2025 summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (OCS).
XI called to intensify efforts to implement the consensus reached by both parties during his state visit to Vietnam in April, in order to obtain more concrete results in the context of their global strategic cooperation.
China and Vietnam must have unshakable confidence in their ways and systems and strengthen their solidarity and coordination, he noted.
China is ready to maintain high -level exchanges with Vietnam and to make strategic cooperation progress jointly, said Xi, adding that the two parties had to actively promote cooperation in the fields such as connectivity, digital economy and artificial intelligence.
He also called on the two countries to strengthen their multilateral coordination in order to preserve the common interests of the Global South.
The Vietnamese Prime Minister said that his country and China shared common strategic interests and were companions on the path of socialism, and that the development of relations with China was a strategic choice and an absolute priority of the Vietnam foreign policy.
The Vietnamese part is willing to strengthen its strategic alignment with China, develop trade and investments, improve connectivity and promote exchanges between peoples, “he said.
Vietnam is delighted to see that China has made significant progress in terms of development and has made an important contribution to the global economy, he noted.
High Chinese officials, including Cai Qi, Wang Yi and Chen Min’er, attended the meeting.
