Chinese President Xi Jinping said Thursday that the administrative, legislative and judicial organs of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) have implemented the “one country, two systems” policy comprehensively, precisely and unswervingly.
During his meeting with officials from the three bodies, Xi said they had carried out their duties pragmatically and effectively under the leadership of Ho Iat Seng, Chief Executive of the Macao SAR in over the last five years.
The achievements of the current Macao SAR government are remarkable and widely recognized, Xi said, noting that the central government highly appreciates them.
Thanks to the efforts of successive terms of the SAR government to unite all sectors of society to continue moving forward, Macao has seen great strides in development and the practice of “one country, two systems” to Macau was a big success, he said.
Xi also expressed hope that officials would fully support the new chief executive and the new SAR government, continue to contribute to Macao’s development and strive to build a better Macau.
Xi also met with representatives of the Macao SAR’s disciplinary departments on Thursday afternoon.
Cai Qi and other senior officials attended the meetings. Mr Ho and new Macao SAR Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai also attended the activities.
