Chinese President Xi Jinping extended Spring Festival greetings to the country’s military veterans.
Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), extended his greetings at a gala hosted by the CMC for retired military officers of troops based in in Beijing.
Amid warm applause, Xi joined the veterans and asked them about their health and lives. Together, they reviewed the extraordinary journey of the Party, the country and the army over the past year, as well as their major achievements.
The veterans vowed to unite more closely around the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as its core leader, resolutely follow the guidelines of Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, and put implement Xi Jinping Thought on strengthening the army.
They pledged to carry on good traditions, uphold political integrity and make new contributions to building a strong country and realizing all-round national rejuvenation through Chinese modernization.
This year’s Spring Festival, or Chinese New Year, falls on January 29.
