In an exhibition center, Mr. Xi has familiarized with the varieties of freshly cut flowers. He also inspected a rose cultivation area and a rose classification and packaging production chain in the park.

The Yunnan floral industry has vast perspectives, said Xi, stressing the importance of developing the entire industrial chain so that this “beautiful industry” can provide more profits to the population.

Registered on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List, the old town of Lijiang is proud of a history of over 800 years. By visiting the city, Mr. XI informed himself about his history and the characteristic dwellings of the naxi ethnic group. He also learned about the efforts made at the local level to protect and use cultural heritage, and to promote the integrated development of culture and tourism.

Freshly covered with spring snow, the city swarmed with tourists. Mr. Xi spoke with local residents and tourists, inquiring about the situation of local businesses and the experience of tourists.

Mr. XI insisted on the need to find a balance between protection and development so that the superb old town shines with new vigor and new vitality.

During his inspection tour, Mr. Xi also went to the provincial capital, Kunming, where he heard the work report of the provincial authorities on Thursday.

XI stressed that the promotion of industrial transformation and modernization was essential for quality development, calling on Yunnan to strengthen, optimize and develop its resources based on scientific and technological innovation, while proactively developing the industries of the future and emerging strategic industries.

He urged the province to accelerate the development of cultural and tourist industries and typical agriculture of trays.

The Yunnan must take advantage of its strategic situation to strengthen the high-level opening and assert itself as a key gateway to South and Southeast Asia, underlined Mr. XI.

He called on the province to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with neighboring countries in fields such as economics, science and technology, talent development, health and culture, in order to generate tangible profits in high quality development of the “belt and road” initiative.

Insisting on the important role of Yunnan in terms of ecology, Mr. XI called the province to serve as an ecological security barrier in southwest China, while stressing the importance of strengthening governance to ensure ethnic unity and stability in this border region housing various ethnic groups.

Stressing that party leadership is the fundamental guarantee of the progress of all businesses, it called on managers at all levels to fulfill their responsibilities in the party’s self -government, and to take exemplary measures to improve the political environment within the party.
