Chinese President Xi Jinping visited a thematic exhibition celebrating the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the Ouïgoure of the Xinjiang Autonomous Region in a cultural center located in Urumqi, regional capital on Wednesday.
Mr. XI, also secretary general of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCC), and president of the Central Military Commission, said that the profound transformations that occurred in the Xinjiang in the past 70 years were a living illustration of the historical process of national renewal.
The practices have shown that the system of ethnic regional autonomy established by the party was completely correct, said Xi, adding that party policy for Xinjiang governance in the new era is both scientific and effective, and must be maintained in the long term.
The exhibition presents an overview of the progress made thanks to the unity, the hard work and the perseverance of all the ethnic groups of the Xinjiang in the last 70 years, under the solid direction of the PCC and with the vigorous support of the other regions of the country.
Exposed elements include historical images, industrial products, reconstructions of scenes from a department store, photos highlighting the achievements in poverty reduction, exhibition panels on ethnic unit, as well as a map of terminals illustrating the growing opening of the region.
Praising the exhibition for having transmitted a positive energy and inspired visitors, Mr. XI called to organize visits to encourage those responsible and the populations of all ethnic groups of the Xinjiang to continue to strive to lead a better and happier life on the path of common prosperity.
Wang Huning, president of the National Committee of the Political Advisory Conference of the Chinese People, Cai Qi, director of the General Directorate of the Central Committee of the CCP, and other officials participated in the visit. MM. Wang and Cai are both members of the permanent committee of the PCC central committee from the Central Committee.
