On the morning of the same day, Pethonthan convened a meeting with the Thai National Police, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and other relevant departments to discuss how to boost the confidence of tourists visiting Thailand. The meeting pointed out that the average daily number of Chinese tourists in Thailand in the first half of January this year did not decrease compared with December last year. However, in order to further boost confidence, Pethonthan instructed relevant departments to strengthen publicity to show the safety of Thai tourism. She also plans to personally record a video with Chinese subtitles to deliver safety information to tourists.
In addition, Pethontan asked all relevant departments at a cabinet meeting on the 13th to speed up the resolution of issues affecting Thailand’s tourism safety image and comprehensively enhance tourist confidence. The meeting proposed that sufficient police force will be deployed to ensure the safety of tourists and tourism safety publicity will be strengthened.
