The 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE), to be held in Shanghai from November 5 to 10, will play its role as a platform to promote high-level opening-up, an official said on Wednesday.
The CIIE serves to showcase China’s major opening-up measures and confidence, share China’s new development opportunities with other countries, and contribute to the improvement of global economic governance rules and promoting the construction of an open global economy, Tang Wenhong, assistant minister of Commerce, noted at a press conference.
This edition of the CIIE attracted participants from 152 countries, regions and international organizations, and reached a new record with the participation of 297 companies from the Fortune Global 500 list and leading companies in their sectors, said Mr. Tang.
As an important part of the CIIE, the Hongqiao International Economic Forum will include a main forum and 19 sub-forums.
Since its first edition in 2018, the CIIE has become an important stage highlighting China’s new development paradigm, a high-level opening-up platform and a public good for the whole world.
The previous six editions have seen nearly 2,500 new products, technologies and services make their first appearance, with a combined turnover exceeding $420 billion.
