Beijing recorded a growth in tourism entering the first quarter of 2025, while the Chinese capital is redoubling for efforts to facilitate travel and payments for visitors and diversify its tourist experiences.
The city welcomed 891,000 inbound tourists between January and March, up 61.3% over a year. Entering tourism continues to develop thanks to new softenings of Chinese transit policy without visa.
According to data published Tuesday by the municipal culture and tourism office of Beijing, the number of visitors from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan amounted to 147,000 in the first quarter, up 32% in annual shift. A total of 744,000 foreign tourists went to Beijing, an increase of 68.7%, representing 83.5% of all visitors incoming in the city.
In order to stimulate incoming tourism, Beijing has launched global one -shop service centers for tourists arriving at its two airports. It also offers more practical payments and telecommunications services.
In addition, the city provides a large number of in -depth travel products allowing tourists to visit more places, instead of being limited to the most famous sites, such as the Forbidden City, the Great Wall and the Temple of the Heaven.
In the future, Beijing plans to strengthen all of its tourist service channel, covering areas such as customs clearance, transport, accommodation, tourist excursions, shopping and payments, as part of its efforts to become the main tourist destination in China.
