The China International Import Expo (CIIE) is an important platform for deepening economic and trade exchanges and cooperation between Switzerland and China, said Jean-Jacques de Dardel, former Swiss ambassador to China. .
In a recent interview with Xinhua in the Swiss city of Fribourg, de Dardel, currently chairman of the board of directors of Swiss Centers, noted that “Swiss Centers has been present there since its first edition.”
Swiss Centers, a non-profit organization founded in 2000 to help Swiss companies expand their businesses in China, organized the participation of more than 30 Swiss companies in this year’s CIIE. The Swiss Centers stand in the food and agriculture section covers 270 square meters, setting a record compared to previous years.
According to Mr. de Dardel, the large number of Swiss companies participating in the CIIE under the organization of Swiss Centers reflects the success of the CIIE.
The CIIE is a “multiplier” that strengthens the ability of Swiss companies to explore the Chinese market, and provides a platform for relevant companies to showcase their company image and products, he said.
Over the years, Swiss Centers has organized the participation of more than 50 companies in the exhibition, facilitating numerous business cooperations. “The CIIE is a success story for us,” he added.
Mr. de Dardel believes that CIIE is not only an important platform in the field of business-to-business commerce, but also contributes to strengthening consumer confidence and demand.
He said the CIIE is “impressive” and has become an important annual event, highlighting China’s continued commitment to opening-up.
The CIIE is impressive not only because of its size, but also because of the liveliness and presence of so many foreign companies and representatives. “In many ways, it’s a success,” he said.
Noting that China-Swiss relations have remained stable and rich, de Dardel expressed hope that positive measures such as the CIIE will inject new impetus into economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
