China recorded 126 million interior trips during the three days of Qingming Day holidays which ended on Sunday, an increase of 6.3% compared to the previous year, according to data published Monday by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Tourist revenues reached 57.55 billion yuan (around 8 billion dollars), up 6.7% in annual sliding. This growth is explained in particular by the rise of short -term getaways and outdoor activities, more and more popular by travelers.
Qingming leave, which are traditionally an opportunity to clean the graves and honor the ancestors in China, were also marked by an increased craze for rural stays and outings in the great outdoors. Car trips, cycling and hiking are among the most popular choices.
