A spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in the United States answered reporters’ questions about the US hope for tariffs.
A reporter asked that recently, the US has repeatedly expressed its willingness to reach an agreement with China on tariff issues, and said that the two sides have held dialogue. What is China’s comment on this?
A spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in the United States said that the remarks were purely confusing. As far as I know, China and the United States have not negotiated or negotiated on tariff issues, let alone reached an agreement. This tariff war was initiated by the US side, and “the person who tied the bell must be untied.” If the US really wants to resolve the problem through dialogue and negotiation, it should correct its mistakes, stop threats and blackmail, completely cancel all unilateral tariff measures against China, and dialogue with China on the basis of equality, respect and reciprocity.
Mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation are the correct ways for China and the United States to get along with each other in the new era. While saying that we will reach an agreement with China, we will continue to put extreme pressure on it. This is not the correct way to deal with China and it will not work.
