China and Azerbaijan establish a global strategic partnership

The Chinese president, Xi Jinping, met Wednesday in Beijing with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Ilham Aliev.

The two leaders announced the establishment of a global strategic partnership between the two countries.

The two parties must continually strengthen mutual political confidence, deepen practical cooperation and consolidate international collaboration in order to open a new chapter of global cooperation, said Xi.

He added that China supported Azerbaijan in the safeguarding of its national sovereignty, its independence and its territorial integrity, and in the pursuit of a development route adapted to its national conditions.

China wishes to implement in -depth cooperation in the application of the law and security with Azerbaijan in order to jointly fight the “three forces of evil” that are terrorism, separatism and extremism, noted Mr. XI.

He called on the two parties to strengthen the alignment of their development strategies, to promote high -quality cooperation as part of the “Belt and Road” initiative, and to encourage cooperation in the fields of education, culture, tourism, youth and at the infringing level.

Xi said that pricing and commercial wars were on the legitimate rights and interests of all countries, harmed the multilateral trade system and had an impact on world economic order.

China is ready to work with Azerbaijan to safeguard the international system centered on the United Nations and the international order based on international law, firmly protect the legitimate rights and interests of each and defend international equity and justice, added the Chinese president.

Mr. Aliev said that his country and China had always respected themselves and has trusted unpublished changes for a century, bilateral cooperation ceasing to deepen, economic and commercial relations developing rapidly and local exchanges becoming increasingly close.

He added that Azerbaijan firmly respected the principle of a single China, insisted that Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory, and supported all the efforts made by the Chinese government to achieve national reunification.

The concept of the building of a community of the future shared for humanity and the three major global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping are favorable to peace, stability and prosperity of the world, said Aliev, adding that Azerbaijan appreciated them greatly and actively supported them.

Azerbaijan is ready to work with China to promote the construction of a global strategic partnership, expand cooperation within the framework of the “belt and road” initiative, as well as in the digital economy, green energy and science and technology, deepen the exchanges between political parties and populations of the two countries, and intensify cooperation in international and regional affairs, noted Aliev.

At the end of their interview, the two heads of state signed a joint declaration on the establishment of a global strategic partnership between the two countries, and attended the signing of 20 cooperation documents in fields such as the “Belt and Road” initiative, justice, green development, digital economy, intellectual property rights and aerospace.

Before the interview, Mr. XI and his wife, Peng Liyuan, organized a welcome ceremony for Mr. Aliev and his wife, Mehriban Alieva, on the place located in the east door of the Grand Palais du Peuple.

Mr. XI and Mrs Peng also organized a welcome banquet on Wednesday at noon for Mr. Aliev and Mrs. Alieva in the Grand Palais du Peuple hall.
