Xi called on the bank to take into account the development needs of the countries of the Global South and to provide more high -quality, inexpensive and sustainable high -quality infrastructure funding.
The bank must improve its management and functioning, implement more technological and green finance projects, and help developing countries reduce the digital fracture and accelerate green and low carbon transformation, “Xi continued.
As part of the discussions on the reform of international financial architecture, the bank must amplify the voice of the Global South, to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the South Global, and to support the countries of the Global South in their continuation of modernization, he said.
As a host country of the bank, China will always support the activities and development of the new development bank, he stressed, adding that China is ready to strengthen cooperation with the bank in projects and to focus on green, innovative and sustainable development in order to obtain more results.
China is also willing to share its experience in development with other member countries across the bank, and to provide more international public goods, continued Mr. XI.
Stressing that the countries of the Global South now constitute collectively a significant power in the maintenance of world peace, the promotion of common development and the improvement of global governance, Mr. Xi affirmed that, whatever the evolution of the international situation, the general trajectory of development and progress of humanity would remain unchanged.
China has accomplished its development thanks to its self-confidence and its hard work. It will strongly safeguard its own legitimate rights and interests, as well as the common interests of the international community, noted Mr. XI.
Ms. Rousseff expressed her gratitude to China for her solid and long -term support for the expansion of the new development bank.
She praised the remarkable achievements of China in terms of development under the leadership of President XI, stressing her central role in the progress of global governance, and said she was convinced that China would achieve its vision of the great renewal of the Chinese nation.
