Family affairs, state affairs, and world affairs, and care about everything.
The birth of the “May 1” International Labor Day originated from the 19th century’s cry for workers’ legitimate rights and interests. It is not only an opportunity to rest, but also a tribute to the dignity of workers and a historic progress of human civilization and democracy.
On the eve of May Day in 1921, teachers from Changxindian Labor Tutoring School and progressive students from Peking University jointly created the “May Day Memorial Song”. The lyrics are: “Beautiful and free, the world star, I fight for my passion, sacrifice for him, and clean up all the powerful system, remember the good day of May 1st. The red flag is flying, and everyone is doing their best, and they take what they need, regardless of wealth and humbleness. The responsibility is to help each other. I hope everyone will work hard and make progress.”
After the founding of New China, May 1 will be designated as the statutory Labor Day, and workers who have made outstanding contributions will be commended. During the celebration of the festival, we can feel the power of unity, understand the struggle of workers, and cherish the hard-won fruits of labor now.
The Communist Party Member Network published an article saying that labor is not a vigorous and soul-stirring “slogans” and “oaths”, nor is it a “filter” and “beauty” that can be seen on the surface, but a tenacity that can be adhered to ordinary but achieve extraordinary results. It is the love of “choose something for a lifetime, do one’s own job and do one’s own job”, and it is fearless and persistent as always.
“On the new journey of Chinese-style modernization, everyone is the protagonist, every effort is precious, and every beam of light shines brightly.” Labor Day reminds us: every position is worthy of respect, and every effort is contributing to society. When we talk about Labor Day, we are not only commemorating the past, but also looking forward to the future. No matter how the conditions of the times change, the background of struggle remains unchanged, and the value pursuit of advocating labor and respecting workers remains unchanged.
It’s Labor Day again. With a grateful heart, we sincerely wish the workers: Happy Labor Day!
