The 2025 edition of the International Fair of Agriculture and Animal Resources (Sara) of Côte d’Ivoire welcomed the “China Day” on Saturday at the Port-Bouët exhibition center in Abidjan.
More than 300 participants, including the Ivorian Minister of State and the Minister of Agriculture, Kobenan Kouassi Adjoumani, as well as several other ministers, representatives of the embassies of various countries in Côte d’Ivoire and representatives of Chinese companies operating in the country, attended this meeting.
During the ceremony, the two parties signed three agreements: the memorandum of agricultural cooperation between the agricultural ministries in the two countries, the memorandum of agreement on scientific and technological cooperation between the Academy of Tropical Agriculture of China and the University of San Pedro of Côte d’Ivoire and the cooperation agreement between the company China Liaoning International Cooperation (Group) Ltd. and the Poro Regional Council in Côte d’Ivoire.
The Chinese ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire, Wu Jie, said that “China’s participation in the Sara 2025 as a country in the spotlight demonstrates the excellence of bilateral relations between China and Côte d’Ivoire as well as the promising prospects of high quality agricultural cooperation between our two countries”.
“I am convinced that from this new starting point, agricultural cooperation between our two countries will become more dynamic, contributing to a solid and in-depth development of Sino-Ivorian relations,” he said.
Mr. Adjoumani stressed that “in less than half a century, China has made the most spectacular transformations in the world to rise to its rank today, in particular with regard to agricultural and agro-industrial development”.
“The Ivory Coast is honored and proud to welcome the People’s Republic of China to this 7th edition of the Sara. Your distinguished presence, as well as that of your delegation, testify to the solidity and depth of the bonds of friendship and cooperation which unite our two nations,” he said.
He appealed to Chinese companies to continue to strengthen their investments and accelerate the modernization of Ivorian agriculture. “We greatly appreciate the technical assistance and the expertise that your country bring us and hope that they are strengthened,” he added.
Finally, he expressed his commitment to further deepen the agricultural partnership between the two countries. “Together, we will register new brilliant pages in the annals of agricultural development for a bright future of shared prosperity and progress”.
