The remains of the former senior Chinese military official Xu Qiliang was cremated Sunday in Beijing.
Xi Jinping, as well as other party and state leaders, including Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang and Li Xi, paid him a last tribute to the revolutionary cemetery of Babaoshan on Sunday.
To the sound of solemn music, they slowly advanced to Mr. Xu’s body and have taken place in silence. They then accomplished three reverences, shakes hands with his family and presented their condolences.
Mr. Xu died of illness on June 2 in Beijing, at the age of 75.
Mr. Xu was a member of the political bureau of the 18th and 19th central committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCC) and vice-president of the Central Military Commission.
He was praised as an eminent member of the CCP, a loyal and proven communist fighter, a proletarian military strategist, as well as an exceptional leader of the People’s Liberation Army.
Xi Jinping, Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, Li Xi, Han Zheng and Hu Jinta visited him in the hospital or expressed their mourning and addressed their condolences to his family by various means after his death.
