The foreign trade of the Chinese southern city of Shenzhen amounted to 2,170 billion yuan (around 303.4 billion dollars) in the first half of 2025, consolidating its first city position on the continental part of China, the customs of Shenzhen announced on Tuesday.
Exports totaled 1,310 billion yuan, while imports reached 858.86 billion yuan. Despite the external challenges and the comparison of the high figures of 2024, the foreign trade of Shenzhen has shown resilience, with significant growth, according to customs.
Private companies in the city dominated foreign trade, recording 1,510 yuan billion and representing 69.8% of total value.
The main business partners were ASEAN, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Among the other major partners are the EU, the United States, India, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Korea, Japan and Mexico.
Exports were mainly dominated by mechanical and electric products, in particular computers and spare parts, integrated circuits and batteries, which was also the case, according to official data.
