Chinese President Xi Jinping urged the Xizang autonomous region on Wednesday to build a new modern, united, prosperous, civilized, harmonious and beautiful XIZANG.
Mr. XI, who is also secretary general of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCC) and president of the Central Military Commission, made these comments after listening to reports from the PCC Committee for the XIZANG region and the regional government.
He stressed that the Xizang had to continue continuously high -quality development and continue to deploy solid efforts in four main tasks, namely guaranteeing stability, facilitating development, protecting the ecological environment, and strengthening borders.
According to Mr. XI, since the creation of the Xizang Autonomous Region 60 years ago, its economic and social development has obtained remarkable progress, paving the way for profound changes in the Plateau region.
Govern the Xizang, ensure its stability and promote its prosperity must begin with the maintenance of political and social stability, ethnic unity and friendship between different religions, noted Mr. Xi, calling to advance the construction of a community for the Chinese nation.
Mr. XI insisted on the need to promote mutual exchanges in the economy, culture, and for staff between Xizang and other parts of the country, and to guide Tibetan Buddhism so that it adapts to socialist society.
He pointed out that the XIZANG had to develop competitive tray industries based on local conditions, with particular attention on the agricultural and farming industries with local characteristics, as well as on the clean energy sector.
The Xizang must advance the main projects, in particular the hydroelectric project in the lower course of the Yarlung Zangbo river and the Sichuan-Xizang railway project, in a vigorous, orderly and efficient manner, said Xi. He also called on the region to promote ecological conservation, and to deploy coordinated efforts to reduce carbon emissions, reduce pollution, widen green development, and continue economic growth, in order to protect the “roof of the world” and the “water tower of Asia”.
In addition, he emphasized the importance of supporting the PCC management on the work relating to the Xizang.
High leaders, including Wang Huning and Cai Qi, also attended Reunion.
Mr. XI, who led a central delegation, arrived at Lhassa, Xizang capital on Wednesday, to attend activities organized on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the region’s foundation. He will participate, Thursday in Lhassa, in a large rally.
