The commemorations of the victory day in China have strengthened the determination and confidence of the nation in the construction of a strong country and the promotion of national revival on all fronts, said President Xi Jinping.
Mr. XI, also secretary general of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and president of the Central Military Commission, made this remark in a recent speech, after listening to a report summarizing the activities organized to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people’s resistance war against the Japanese and the anti -fascist World War.
Pronounced during a meeting of the permanent committee of the political bureau of the central committee of the CCP, Mr. XI’s speech was relayed Wednesday during a summary meeting on commemorative activities.
At the Grand Palais du Peuple, located in the heart of Beijing, Mr. Xi met representatives of various groups involved in the organization of commemorations, praised their contributions and achievements, and encouraged them to fulfill other new successes.
In his speech, Mr. Xi stressed that these commemorations were both a source of inspiration and motivation, and that they made it possible to perpetuate the great forged spirit during the war of resistance against Japanese aggression.
“These events have highlighted the sense of responsibility of China in promoting the construction of a community of the future shared for humanity,” he said.
Mr. XI has emphasized the need to continue to use these commemorative events as an educational manual living for patriotic education, and to transform the confidence, pride and vitality which they inspire into a powerful driving force to advance reform, development and stability.
He also underlined the need to defend a correct vision of the history of the war of resistance and the Second World War, while drawing wisdom and force from the great victory won thanks to the heroic and united resistance of the Chinese nation under the direction of the PCC.
“We must firmly stand on the right side of history, and continue to forge a better future by learning the lessons of it,” said Xi.
He also called for efforts to better aware of the realities of the war of resistance against Japanese assault and peaceful development of China, thus demonstrating to the world that it remains an unshakable defender of the international post-war order.
Cai Qi, member of the Permanent Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the PCC and leader of the executive group for commemorative events, attended Wednesday’s meeting with the representatives and spoke during the summary meeting.
China organized a series of commemorative events on September 3 in Beijing, including a military parade on Tian’anmen square and a reception at the Grand Palais du Peuple.
