At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Beijing on Wednesday to pay a state visit to China which will last until Friday.
This is Mr. Macron’s fourth state visit to China and a reciprocal visit to Mr. Xi’s historic visit to France last year, which marked the 60th anniversary of Sino-French diplomatic relations.
During this week’s visit, Xi will hold talks with Macron to jointly guide the development of China-French relations in the new context. The two presidents will also exchange in-depth views on major international and regional current issues.
China is ready to work with France to take this visit as an opportunity to promote the spirit that guided the establishment of Sino-French diplomatic relations, strengthen strategic communication, deepen pragmatic cooperation and work for closer coordination in multilateral affairs, said a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
Together, the two sides can achieve new progress in their comprehensive strategic partnership, promote the healthy and stable development of China-EU relations, and further contribute to multilateralism and a peaceful, stable and prosperous world, the spokesperson added.
