Xi Jinping, chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), on Monday handed over certificates of order to promote two military officers to the rank of general.
The promoted officers are Yang Zhibin, commander of the People’s Liberation Army’s (PLA) Eastern Theater Command, and Han Shengyan, commander of the PLA’s Central Theater Command.
Zhang Youxia, vice chairman of the CMC, announced the promotion orders, signed by Xi, at a promotion ceremony in Beijing. Zhang Shengmin, also vice president of the CMC, presided over the ceremony.
Mr. Xi extended his congratulations to these two generals.
The rank of general is the highest for officers on active duty in China.
