As a responsible major developing country, China’s efforts in combating climate change and promoting the development and application of renewable energy globally are widely recognized, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said Thursday.
Guo made the statement at a news conference in response to U.S. President Donald Trump, who reportedly said in Davos on Wednesday that China makes a lot of wind turbines, but that he has “failed to find any wind farms in China.” He also said China was selling wind turbines to “stupid” people.
China has established the world’s most comprehensive policy system for reducing carbon emissions, as well as the world’s largest renewable energy system, and actively shares its achievements in green development, Guo said.
He pointed out that China’s installed wind power capacity has been the first in the world for 15 consecutive years. By the end of November 2025, China’s installed wind power capacity had exceeded 600 million kW.
During the 2021-2025 period, wind and photovoltaic products exported by China helped reduce carbon emissions in other countries by about 4.1 billion tons, the spokesperson said.
China is ready to work with all parties to continue to promote the global transition to a green and low-carbon economy, and jointly build a clean and beautiful world, he added.
